Ross Aloisi welcomes back Joe Caletti for 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League season

Brisbane Roar can confirm the return of versatile midfielder Joe Caletti to the club for the 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

The 24-year-old first joined the Brisbane Roar in 2016 after impressing in the FFA Centre of Excellence where he was twice Player of the Season.

Caletti captained the Joeys at the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Chile before signing with the Roar to further his development.

Joe played over 30 games for the Brisbane Roar over three seasons before embarking on an international opportunity in Norway where he completed a stint with Florø SK.

Joe returned to the A-League in 2020, joining Adelaide United on a two-year contract where he featured in over 30 games.

In 2022, Caletti joined Tochigi City in the Kanto Soccer League in Japan, where he scored three goals in his 11 appearances.

Caletti has fond memories of his time at the Roar and is looking forward to returning to Brisbane and contributing to club success.

“I’m very excited. I had a good three and a half years last time and I loved every moment. Brisbane Roar was the first club that gave me that opportunity to play professional football and it’s a city that my family and I really enjoyed living in,” Caletti said.

“I met some great people here and had a lot of great experiences playing in the A-League and the Asian Champions League. I’m hoping on building on that and hopefully to bring success back to the club,” he added.

The dynamic midfielder believes he can implement the experiences he has gained from playing international football into his return to the club.

“It was a really cool experience, to play overseas I think is a really good experience for any footballer. The culture is different, the play style compared in Japan to Australia, I’ve definitely been able to grow as a player,” he said.

Caletti has previously worked with Head Coach Ross Aloisi therefore is familiar with his coaching style. He anticipates a positive season ahead and hopes to assist the team however he can.

“I’ve got a good relationship with Ross, I’ve worked with him a couple of times before and I get along with him. I like the way he coaches, I like his playing style, I’m really looking forward to working under him as the Head Coach,” Caletti siad.

“I want to help contribute to the club winning games, hopefully that’s with me being on the pitch and playing some good football with the boys and helping everyone reach their full potential around me as well.”

Aloisi believes Caletti is a player rich in experience that will be a great asset to the playing group.

“Joey has a lot of experience both nationally and internationally. We signed Joey because of the player he is, he fits perfectly to our playing style,” Aloisi said.

“He can play in all 3 positions in the midfield and is a true leader that will add to our culture and values. He has an amazing football brain that understands structure really well. We are all extremely happy to add Joey to our playing group.”
