Head Coach Alex Smith is looking for a crucial three points away from home this Saturday and believes capitalising on periods of dominance and putting chances away will be key for the win.
Despite Adelaide United sitting 11th place, Smith is aware that results are unpredictable in this competition but will aim to do one better than their last meeting and bring three points back to Brisbane.
“Any team in this league is dangerous, I thought we were the better team last time we played them and deserved more from the game, but it will be a big test away from home again. As always, I’m confident if we work hard and put away our chances then we won’t have any problems,” Smith said.
“For me, it’s about converting our periods of dominance into goals and points. That’s something we haven’t been able to do this year, that’s been a big problem. We’re just looking to use these last three games to try get as many points as possible.”
With just three games to go, Roar will look for a strong result at Marden Sports Complex this Saturday and aim to follow up with two strong performances at home to end the season on a high.
“Training has been good, as normal. The girls put in a lot of effort at training, so I don’t have a lot of complaints about that. We have just got to try and put our best foot forward for the last three games.”
Smith commended Alicia Woods’ development since making her first start against Western United in Round 16 after working with her at NPL QLD club Peninsula Power.
“Tish is a really classy footballer, obviously working with her previously and brought her into Roar. I have been happy for her and with her performances,” he said.
“She’s definitely one for the future, which we’ve got quite a lot of girls here that are here to develop and be here for the long hall. Hopefully, we start to see the benefits of that next season and in the next few years.”
