Woods: Confidence growing after debut

Brisbane Roar midfielder Alicia Woods continues her growth and development at the A-League level since making her starting debut against Western United in Round 16.

Woods signed in December 2023 from NPL QLD club Peninsula Power and has since made a positive impact in the midfield, making four appearances, all which have been starts.

“It was a pretty surreal experience to debut especially away from home in a starting position, it was crazy!”

“It’s been good, a couple of assists the other week and I think that game against City improved a lot of people’s confidence.”

The 20-year-old made two brilliant assists for Tameka Yallop and Sharn Freier’s goals in Roar’s last match at Perry Park which saw them overcome Melbourne City 2-0.

The squad are eager to bounce back on the road this Saturday when they take on Adelaide United in Round 20.

“It’s hard to get a loss at home, in front of all the fans, so that was tough on all of us. Definitely ready to bounce back, there’s been good vibe around the squad this week,” Woods said.

“Last away game, keen to get three points again but it will be a tough game and I think the girls’ are ready for it.”

Woods is maintaining a positive mindset with her eyes still set on a finals spot with three games of the regular season remaining.

“Top six has been our goal for a while, so obviously we’re going to aim for that and hopefully get the most out of the last few games we’ve got and push as hard as we can.”
