Alicia Woods

Young Matildas Midfielder, Alicia Woods is Roar’s reigning Young Player of the Year following a 24/25 campaign where she scored her first ever Ninja A-League goal with a bomb in Round 12 against Adelaide United and excelled in the midfield all season.

Woods, who played in every match of the 2024/25 campaign created 29 chances throughout the season, a number only bettered for the club by Tameka Yallop. The 21-year-old 0.9 successful dribbles per 90 were the third highest of any Roar player throughout the season as were her 2.6 accurate long balls per 90.

The all action midfielder also offered plenty to the side defensively, averaging 3.3 succesful tackles per 90 and 2.0 interceptions per 90 throughout the season – the highest number of any Roar player.

Woods burst onto the A-League scene at the back end of the 23/24 campaign, making her debut in Round 16 against Western United before quickly finding herself in the starting line-up and going to make seven appearances in her maiden top flight campaign.

At international level, Woods was part of the Young Matildas side that competed at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia and the ASEAN U23 MSIG Serenity Cup winning side earlier in August 2025

Woods joined Roar on a scholarship contract after two impressive seasons with Peninsula Power playing under Roar Head Coach, Alex Smith where she was one of the competition’s stand out young players. The 19-year-old also previously played in the NPL Queensland for the Sunshine Coast Wanderers.
