Macklin Freke
1 GoalkeeperBorn in the Queensland capital, Macklin Freke joined the BRFC Academy from Brisbane City and was an integral member of the Young Roar team that won the Y-League in 2019.
His potential had earlier been recognised with selection in the Young Socceroos squad that competed at the AFC U19 Championship in late 2018.
Freke made his debut for the club in a 2-1 win against the Newcastle Jets in Round 4 of the 2020/2021 season.
The 2023/2024 ALM campaign was Freke’s best season yet for the Roar, he established himself as the club’s first choice goalkeeper with his stellar performances between the sticks earned him the Fan’s Player of the Year award and the club’s Outstanding A-League Player of the Year award.
The shot-stopper also made history by becoming the club’s first player to win the Gary Wilkins Medal after coming through the Roar’s NPL program.
Freke will look to further cement himself as one of the competition’s most consistent Goalkeepers throughout the 2024/2025 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
