Biography
Born in the Queensland capital, Macklin Freke joined the BRFC Academy from Brisbane City and was an integral member of the Young Roar team that won the Y-League in 2019.
His potential had earlier been recognised with selection in the Young Socceroos squad that competed at the AFC U19 Championship in late 2018.
Freke, a talented junior cricketer, became an established member of the senior side’s matchday squad in 2020/21 and made the first of his two appearances in a Round 4 win in Newcastle.
Macklin heads into the 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League season with 19 A-League appearances, which is sure to rise as he is first choice between the sticks in Ross Aloisi’s side.
