Zara Kruger

Young Matildas midfielder, Zara Kruger returned to Roar ahead of the 24/25 season as another of Roar’s exciting brigade of talented Queenslanders representing Australia at Youth level. The midfielder is a key cog in Alex Smith’s engine room.

Kruger scored her first goal with the club with a spectacular effort from distance in Round 15 away to Western Sydney Wanderers and bagged two assists in 20 appearances throughout the 24/25 campaign.

At international level, the midfielder is a CommBank Young Matildas regular and was part of the side that competed at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

Born and raised in Warwick, Kruger spent the 23/24 season with the Championship-winning Sydney FC side, playing 17 games and scoring one goal in a successful campaign before returning to her hometown club for the 24/25 season.

The young Queenslander made her mark in the NPL Queensland with Lions FC as a regular starter for the competition’s powerhouses before joining Roar on a scholarship contract on loan for the 22/23 season.

In her first stint in the Sunshine State, Kruger earned regular call-ups to the Young Matildas and made 10 A-League appearances with Brisbane.
