ALM R9 Preview: Brisbane Roar v Central Coast Mariners

Brisbane Roar look to keep their unbeaten record at Suncorp Stadium intact when they go up against Central Coast Mariners in Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Round 9 action on Thursday night.

Roar have taken two wins and a draw from their three home matches since making the return to Suncorp at the start of the 2023/24 season.

Ross Aloisi’s side start the round in fifth position with four wins to their name from their opening eight games of the new campaign.

Roar aim to return to the winners circle after having a four match unbeaten run ended in a last ditch 2-1 defeat at the hands of Western United at AAMI Park on Friday night.

The Mariners also made the trip to AAMI Park last weekend where they played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Melbourne City in a Grand Final rematch on Sunday afternoon.

Mark Jackson’s side currently occupy tenth position on the league table having picked up two wins so far.

Roar and the Mariners have already gone head-to-head once this season with a pair of first half goals from Florin Berenguer and Thomas Waddingham securing a 2-1 win at Industree Group Stadium last month.

In total the two sides have met 59 times in A-League action with Roar winning 33 games, the Mariners winning 11 and there having been 15 draws between the pair.

Brisbane are unbeaten in their last nine A-League meetings with the Mariners (W7, D2) and have kept four clean sheets from their last five matches. The last time Mariners took three points at Suncorp Stadium was in April 2014.
