BRISBANE ROAR MEN’S HEAD COACH, BEN CAHN,TAKES MEDICAL LEAVE

BRISBANE, February 1, 2024 – Brisbane Roar FC has announced that Ben Cahn, the Head Coach of the men’s team, will be taking an indefinite medical leave, effective immediately. This decision comes shortly after his appointment to lead the Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s team earlier this year.

Cahn this week has communicated to the club’s management that he is currently unable to fulfil the role due to medical issues, stressing the importance of health and well-being over his professional commitments. The decision reflects Cahn’s dedication to the team’s need for a focused and fully committed leadership.

“It’s an incredibly difficult decision to step away from something I’ve worked so hard for, but my health and my family come first. I’m very grateful to management for supporting me in this decision and have no doubts that they’ll continue to take the club forward,“ said Cahn.

Kaz Patafta, the CEO and Chairman of Brisbane Roar FC, has expressed unwavering support for Cahn during this period. “As a professional sporting club our first priority is our people. Ben’s health is paramount to all of us. We stand by Ben during this time and are grateful for his transparent and conscientious decision-making,“ stated Patafta.

In the interim, newly appointed assistant coach Ruben Zadkovich will assume the role of acting Head Coach, beginning with the upcoming match against Wellington at Suncorp Stadium this Friday.

Brisbane Roar FC wishes Ben Cahn a swift and full recovery.
