Theo to miss the start of season

Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Michael Theo faces at least eight weeks on the sidelines following an injury to his left wrist at training on Monday morning.

Theo did not travel to Adelaide with the squad for last night’s Westfield FFA Cup loss to Adelaide United as scans showed the 33-year-old fractured his wrist and required surgery.

“Michael sustained a wrist fracture during shooting practice at training on Monday,” Head Coach Mike Mulvey said.

“He made an unbelievable save from a snap shot during one of our normal drills.

“Unfortunately, he sustained the injury which will see him out of action for the beginning of the season.”

With Jamie Young currently the only contracted goalkeeper in his Hyundai A-League squad, Head Coach Mike Mulvey will make a decision on an injury replacement player before the start of the campaign on Sunday, 12 October.
