Youngsters roaring into Shepparton

Thumbnail

Our Young Roar return to Foxtel Y-League action this Saturday, making the trip south to Shepparton to face perennial contenders Melbourne City.

The two sides have share the last handful of Conference titles, but the Young Roar will be buoyed by a double over their Victorian rivals last season, as well as a resounding opening round win.

Chris Grossmanā€™s side enter the contest refreshed and rejuvenated following a Round 2 bye, but itā€™ll be the opening performance that has the side in such high spirits.

Five players found the back of the net in a 7-0 rout of Melbourne Victory, a side the Roar now boasts an undefeated record against dating back to 2014.

Muratovic

Experienced Mirza Muratovic got his season off to a sparkling start, netting a hat-trick in the win, but all attention has turned to furthering the Young Roarā€™s 2019/20 record.

The Young Roar defence will have to be well-guarded but their opponents opening fixture suggests a goal-fest could be on the cards. City shared the spoils with Perth Glory in an eye-watering 6-6 draw last weekend, with the Victorians letting go of a 6-3 lead during the second half.

The Young Roarā€™s next home game is against Adelaide United at A.J. Kelly Park on Saturday, 14 December (10:30am).
