Brisbane Roar’s 2022 Award Winners announced

Star midfielders Jay O’Shea and Ayesha Norrie have been announced as the top honorees at Brisbane Roar’s 2022 Awards Night, held at Sirromet Winery on Thursday.

With three goals and nine assists to his name this season, O’Shea was the standout choice for the Gary Wilkins Medal as the club’s Isuzu UTE A-League Player of the Year.

The Irishman becomes the fourth man to win the prestigious accolade in consecutive years after claiming it for the first time in 2021.

Norrie was announced as the Liberty A-League Player of the Year following a superb individual season on her return to the Roar, having inherited the armband from Clare Polkinghorne and contributed two goals in addition to a series of tireless midfield performances.

O’Shea also scooped the men’s Players’ Player of the Year award, which was won by Katrina Gorry for the Liberty A-League side.

Gorry, Norrie, Golden Boot winner Larissa Crummer and Young Player of the Year Jamilla Rankin received their awards at an earlier end-of-season team celebration, held prior to Gorry’s move to Sweden.

Crummer took out the Golden Boot after scoring eight Liberty A-League goals, while teenage defender Rankin was recognised for another impressive campaign in which she started every game.

Emerging attacker Henry Hore earned the men’s Breakthrough Player of the Year title for an eye-catching debut season, which has yielded five goals.

That return puts him level with Nikola Mileusnic and Juan Lescano in the battle for the Golden Boot, which will be conferred following the team’s final Isuzu UTE A-League match against Sydney FC on Tuesday, 10 May.
