Brisbane Roar defender Jamilla Rankin continues to make strides on the international stage after being named in the Commonwealth Bank Matildas squad for the second time. Tony Gustavsson's team are set to return home for the first time in almost 600 days for two matches against Brazil in Sydney on 23 and 26 October. Rankin, who earned her maiden call-up in September, has retained her place in a strong 23-player squad. The left-back will have the chance to push for a debut at CommBank Stadium against the world number seven side.
Brisbane Roar's A-Leagues sides will face the NPL Queensland All Stars for the second year running in a pre-season double header next month. The A-Leagues today announce the signing of Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) as the first naming rights partner of its men’s competition, which will be officially known as the ‘Isuzu UTE A-League Men’. The three-year partnership marks the latest milestone in the A-Leagues’ ambitious growth and commercial development strategy. Commencing with the upcoming season (2021-22), the partnership also includes naming rights of the A-League Men’s Finals Series and becoming the Official Automotive Partner of the A-Leagues’ Men, Women, Youth and E-Sports Leagues.
Brisbane Roar has brought more attacking firepower into its A-League Women's squad by signing prolific forward Meaghan McElligott. The versatile Western Pride captain returns to the top tier of Australian football after spending a season with Canberra United in 2018. Brisbane Roar will meet Lions FC in a blockbuster FFA Cup Round of 16 tie, Thursday's live draw confirmed. The Roar came first out of the pot and Lions followed, setting up a massive match for the Queensland football community. It's set to be the second FFA Cup game in succession that Warren Moon has coached against a former club, having guided the Roar to a 3-0 victory over Peninsula Power in the Round of 32.
