ALM R10 Preview: Melbourne City v Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar aim to return to the winners circle when they make the trip to AAMI Park to take on Melbourne City in Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Round 10 action on Thursday night.

Roar start the weekend in fifth position on 14 points, two clear of City who have three wins to their name after nine rounds of action.

Interim Head Coach, Luciano Trani will take charge of his first match on Thursday after it was confirmed over the weekend that Ross Aloisi had departed the club to take up an opportunity overseas .

City, who have also made a coaching change this season with Aurelio Vidmar now at the helm come into Thursday’s match off of back-to-back draws, including a goal-less stalemate in the Melbourne derby in their last outing.

Roar also head into Thursday’s game looking to snap a two-match winless run after suffering defeats to Central Coast and Western United in recent weeks.

Brisbane are buoyed by the news that midfield talisman, Jay O’Shea has signed a two year contract extension that will keep him at the club through to the end of the 2025/26 season A-League season.

O’Shea has top scored for Roar this season with four goals so far and leads the league for chances created.

The Irishman’s midfield partner, Florin Berenguer is in contention for a return to the side being name in the matchday squad for the first time since suffering a quad strain against Perth Glory in Round 5.

Roar and City have gone head-to-head 39 times in A-League action with Roar winning on 12 occasions, City winning 20 times and there having been seven draws between the pair.

Thursday’s match at AAMI Park kicks off at 6:45pm and will follow an ALW clash between the two sides which kicks off at 4pm. Both matches will be broadcast live on Paramount+.
